These are our errors:

1. Update All Error (Service Call process)

Friends, these are problems that I have with OVSD 4,5. No pacthes installed. The questions are:

1. Does SP7 correct all these errors?
2. Does SP7 contain all the corrections of the SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4, SP5 e SP6?
3. Is it possible configure daylight on the SP11?
4. Does SP16 contain all the corrections of the SP1...SP15 OR each SP is to correct each error?

Do you understand me or is not more clear?

Q2: SP7 & contains the previous SP fixes and functionality
Q4: SP16 & contains the previous SP fixes and functionality

So all the individual fixes do NOT have to be applied one ofter the other (That would be too much of a headache)

I will have to look at the other threads.

Do you have an Openview test system / environment available that you can apply SPs to?

No, I dont. Because I am just studying what are SPs resolve my limitations on the Service Desk and what is SP more adequate for these cases.

Hi Marcela,

this comes away from your original questions but is it possible to set up a test environment (database and application server) where you can apply the patches and test them out to see how they work with your setup.

An example is when we applied SP 12 to fix some bugs and get additional functionality the patch introduced a small problem in the CMDB module. Without testing we would not have noticed this before applying the patch to the live system.

We got an answer for the issue from HP and this forum and put the fix in (not to put you off upgrading to a later patch as they should generally improve things in your situation and give you more flexability)

Mark, hellow!

Your suggest will be very welcome but we dont buy any SP, yet, to effect the tests on the evaluated version. Because we will utilize a test environment to verify the fixes and functionalities. We doesnt determine what SP will utilize and this thread can help us with base in your experience. The questions are sample. I need just to know answer for number 1 and number 3 to decide.

Where does these pacthes are installed?

Hi Marcela,

the Service packs can be downloaded from HP. When you extract the file in each SP there is a list of the bugs that they have fixed and any additional functionality provided.

The problems you have could be due to bugs. If so choose an SP (perhaps the latest)extract it and search the documents to see if your bug is addressed.

Best approach is to apply a path to a test system and see if the problem is still there or if there are ways to get around it with additional functionality (though I remember you mentioned testing may not be an option)

Sorry Macrela,

i forgot thsi bit:

1-Should be achievable with rules etc at present. An SP will not necessarily fix this but it will allow contributors of the forum to help you create the rules required as most contributors may not have OVSD with no patches and therefore are using the updated rules which will be different to what you have available. A later Sp will allow you to better define the rules needed.

2-Looks like it is solved in SP 11 based on a users experience

3-Don't now if this is resolved or will still happen

4-Sounds likely to be fixed with SP 7 onwards with the merge options
