Opinions on CI mass update process

When we first implemented OVSD 4.5 there were a lot of things that we wish we'd done differently. As a result, there are many things we'd like to update on our CIs.

What I think we need to do is this:

1. Export the data (suggestions on how to do this I.E. Data Exchange, Views, etc)

2. Update the data (in Excel?)

3. Reimport the data into OVSD

I'd like to hear opinions from the class on both the process and any recommended tools that could make the project easier.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Opinions on CI mass update process

Just a thought

If you are planning to manually update it in excel, I guess another alternative is to manually update it in SD itself and make use of the "update all" where possible.

Otherwise, if you plan to use scripting to manipulate the data, you can use webapi to do so. This requires you to write java code

If you want to manipulate the data in excel, this also has a whole bunch of advantages with all the functions excel has. And you can also use VBA code to manipulate the data.

If the data size is really big, then writing code is the way to go (be it java using webapi or be it VBA in excel)

Hope this helps
If you can't solve it, post it :)
