OVSD Attachments FTP and Server 2003 Architecture

Hello all,
Quick Question (maybe :)

I have 1 2003 sp1 app server (ovsd 4.5 sp17) 1 DB(cmdb) SQL 2000 Server 2003 sp1 and a LUN cut off of that with a portion dedicated for attachments.

These servers are all running on server 2003 sp1.

I planned on doing the following:
1. setup FTP/IIS on app server
2. setup web console on DB server (very limited amount of users via web)
3. point app server ftp location to DB server LUN
Look ok?

My question is this specifically, if I set up FTP for attachments on my DB SQL server 2003 it installs a portion of IIS which from reading isn't going to work in conjunction with the web console??? installed on the same box? Has anyone tried installing the web console on a 2003 box with FTP services running on it?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

You are planning to install ftp component of IIS. Even if you install web server component too while installing IIS, there will not be any problem, unless you setup same port for web console and IIS web server. You can install IIS ftp component and web console on same box, and run without problem.
