OVSD 4.5 End of Life?

There are a couple threads floating around the forum, but I was wondering if someone knows when HP will stop supporting OVSD 4.5. A website link to HP indicating the date would also be beneficial.

We've been running 4.5 since 2005 and want to know where we need to put our efforts going forward, whether maintenance or migration.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi,

According to this URL from HP support site, the dates that you're looking for are:

Dec 31, 2008 End of Sale (no longer orderable or available for purchase)
Dec 31, 2009 Current Product Support Ends
Dec 31, 2011 Self-Help Support Ends

as if there was any real one ;-) There's only re-implementation and that is something totally different resource/time-wise...

Re: OVSD 4.5 End of Life?

We've also been using HPOV SD since 2005, and have finally made it into a quite usable tool for our purposes. The "help" we have received from HP during this process has been negligible, without this forum and all the helpful people here we would be in trouble..

SM7 would mean a total re-implementation of system, workflow and processes, re-education of users, and problems/turbulence for some time afterwards. The support/help we have received from HP when implementing/testing our SM7 test environment so far has not been encouraging..

We are sitting on the fence now for the time being, and will probably consider other products than SM7 when decision time comes...
