OV Service Desk 4.5 SP17

Hi All,

I have a user logging on to servicedesk in Windows XP. The following message appears on the client;

"The following components are either not present on this machine or have an incorrect version number

Microsoft ADO DB (Minimal Required Version: 2.1)

Please try to correct this problem before starting the application"

I have re-installed all the client software to no avail and also recreated the profle. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi,

Check the Version Information Stored in the Registry:
Start > Run > Regedit.
In the Navigation pane, drill-down to the following path:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess.
Look in the Name column for FullInstallVer and Version.

Your MS ADO/MDAC may have been overwritten by another software. Check on the MS site for the latest ADO/MDAC and install it or locate your old mdac.inf and reinstall that.

Hi,

You can use also a tool for verifying MDAC installations - 'Component Checker' from Microsoft.
For MS Windows XP only some MDAC version can be installed by using the corresponding redistributable installer Mdac_typ.exe, for example, MDAC 2.7 SP1, MDAC 2.8.
MDAC 2.8 SP1 is installed with Windows XP SP2, otherwise cannot be installed.

Re: OV Service Desk 4.5 SP17

Hi,
we had the same problem in one case when the client was installed on Win XP SP2 (OVSD 4.5 SP15).
The reinstalation of MDAC solved this but you can't easily download actual version of MDAC from Microsoft and install it. For reinstalation you have to go to the folder C:\windowss\inf\ and right click to the file "mdac.inf". In this menu you can choose "Install". Then you can select the XP SP2 CD or folder C:\windows\servicepackfiles\ and then to the instalation CD (you'll be asked for this).
