We are planning to make the evolution of HPSD 4.5 - from SP 11 to SP 18. I want to know if, in case of anything goes wrong with the procedure, is possible to return HPSD to its previous version - (uninstall HPSD SP18/rollback).
it is a one way upgrade. There is no default roll back.
What you need to do is back up the database prior to the upgrade and the app servers.
Also note that if you roll back to SP 11 then any client that is upgraded will also have to roll back - uninstall OVSD client and reinstall with SP 11 (this is of coursse if you roll back to the database that was on sp 11).
Best advice is test, test and test. Remember that if you have to roll back the change you may loose any records that were created beteeen the time of the last database backup and the time that you decide to roll back.
With carefull planning you should be ok. Read the doc's that come with the Service Pack 18.
By the way the last Sp for OVSD 4.5 is SP 20 so is there a reason that you are going to 18 instead of 20?
HI Rollback for DB - restore from backup. from Applic. server - copy before servicepack.jar or total lib/ folder and copy back if you like rollback. for client s/w - from C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk\ copy servicepack.jar before update and copy back if you like rollback.
