Merge issue with simultaneous ticket updating.

Hi,

When multiple updates happen simultaneously,
updated data is lost.

We are facing this issue from long time.

Can any one suggest the solution for this.

Hi Kumar,

I saw that in the Settings of the server you can notify user that a record is been viewed or modified by another user. This could at least indicate user to not use or change the same record at the same time.
In my opinion your Database server is not calibrate to support the amount of changes you are facing.
Are you using SQL or Oracle?

In our environment we are using SQL server 2000 DB.

You told that in the settings of the server we can notify user that a record is been viewed or modified by another user.Please let me know how this can be done?

Will i get any pop up indicating that another user working on this ticket?

Hi Kumar,
You can find this option on the Administrator Console > System Panel > General Settings on the Application TAB. I've attached a screen-shot.
It seams that this is not available on old Service Pack(s).
I've SP 20 installed. Maybe this functionality is only available with SP 20.
I've not tested it but it can be pop-ups that appear on the sceen.

In our environment we have (SP10).

We dont have the mentioned option.

Could you please give me any alternative solution.

Coming to rating: I am giving the ratings without any misses, if i miss any i am sorry.

Hi Kumar,

Concerning the notifications I don't see another solution than upgrading to SP 20. Or you have to build your own tool.

Maybe someone else has an idea for this.

Hi Michel,

I am downloading SP20.

Currently we are using SP10.

Can i go for SP20 directly?
Is there are any conflicts with SP20?
What are the things i need to take care while installing/ after instaling SD?

Hi Kumar,

I don't know if there is a special procedure to update from SP 10 to SP 20. I've made it from SP 19 to SP 20 it was not that risky.

What I would suggest is to make a test environment where you copy your production environment and apply the service pack. Do some non-regressive tests. If nothing seams to affect that much the system you can approve the SP upgrade.

Do not forget to Backup first your production before upgrading SP 20.

Hi Michel,

I am sorry to ask you this doubt, this is the first time i am doing the upgradation.

Please let me know how to take the backup of existing environment and restoring it into a test machine..

I am installing OV SD on win2003 server.
I have seen one patch for SD4.5 to support Win2003.

I want to know is it necessary to install that patch or i can go ahead.

To be honest I've never tried with Win2k3 Server...
But if there is a patch foreseen I would install it.
