Logging a login account

Hi,

Is there a possibility to write in a logfile every account who login into SD, so that it is possible to have a history of the logins.

Patrick

Re: Logging a login account

Hi Patrick,
Open your Administrator Console and go to Security > Enhanced Auditing > Configuration:
Expand the tree and check "hp OpenView service desk > Security > Access > Application Account".
Right-click your mouse on "hp OpenView service desk" and click on Resume.

Be aware that this has an impact on your server performance.
To check who logged when check on the Admin console: Security > Enhanced Auditing > Audit Log.

Hope this helps,
Rgds,
Michel

Re: Logging a login account

Hi Michel,

First of all I use SD 4.5 SP17
And I didn't find this function under security.
Or is this functionality only on SD5.0 possible?

Patrick

Re: Logging a login account

This should be available under sp17. Try creating a new user and give the role of auditor and login as it.

Re: Logging a login account

Hello Patrick,

this is available on HPOVSD 4.5 SP11. You have to connect as System or grant the Auditor Role.
Ref:"sd45_sp20_addendum_en.pdf" page 79
this document is available on the document folder when extracting a Service Pack. (Doc available from SP 20 only !!!)

I'm not sure this exists on HPOVSD 5.1.

Hope this helps,
Rgds,
Michel

Re: Logging a login account

Hi,

It works, but I have another question:

Who can delete this audit logs now, because I'm logged in as a sysadmin and auditor but I have no rights todo that.
Any idea?

Re: Logging a login account

Hi Patrick,
To delete those entries you have no other choice to delete them directly on the DB.

:o(

But unfortunately I don't know the table(s) name(s) containing that information.

Re: Logging a login account

For deleting auditlog you must use "Archiving". However unless you upgrade to SP17 or later you cannot specify what view should be used for archiving.

The audit logs are stored on the table "ifc_auditlogs" (in case you want to delete the audit logs by SQL statement)
