Re: Java error with client

Hi mike,

Check the views.dat file in the client home (usually C:\Documents and Settings\,user name>\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk).

Try renaming it and then attempt the client again. If that does not help try renaming the Cache folder as well.

Hope this helps

Re: Java error with client

Hi Ruth

Thank you for your speedy response, I tried renaming the views file but no success, I cannot rename the cache folder as the server is live at the moment, will have to schedule a time to stop services to rename the folder. I will let you know how it goes.

Re: Java error with client

Hi Mike,

The cache i meant was on the client so you should be able to rename it.

Re: Java error with client

Hi Ruth

It will not allow me to rename the cache.
Is it possible for me to chat to you on MSN or email?

On the client machine in the client home folder there should not be any problem with renaming the cache folder - so can you post soem screen shots?

Ruth

Re: Java error with client

Hi Ruth

As I was saying this is the client on the HP Service Desk server machine, running server and trying to run client. I get an error "Access is Denied" when I try to re-name the folder.
I have attached a screen shot
Thank you for your patience.

Re: Java error with client

Hi Mike,

Can you stop the service while you rename the folder?

Re: Java error with client

Hi,

Stop all service desk related services, then search for jview.exe in process viewer. If you find it, kill it. There can be multiple instances of jview.exe, in that case kill'em all as metallica instructed. Then try to rename service desk folder. Start all services, start client.
