Java error NullPointerException

Hi all

SD client hangs up an error when try to open service call. Log File contains that:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at com/hp/itsm/common/cl/WFWorkFlow.getSupportIntervalsForPlanDateCalculation
at com/hp/itsm/common/cl/WFWorkFlow.calculatePlannedDuration
at com/hp/itsm/common/cl/WFWorkFlow.calculateDuration
at com/hp/itsm/common/cl/WFWorkFlow.getRemainDuration
at com/hp/itsm/common/cl/WFWorkFlow$10.get
at com/hp/ifc/wf/AppEntity.getValue

I suppose that 'calculatePlannedDuration' cause this error.

Re: Java error NullPointerException

Hi

Have you tried clearing the client cache?
usually this resolves the NullPointerException error.

the cache is typically in C:\Documents and Settings\%USER PROFILE%\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk

Delete the cache folder and try re-opening the client

Re: Java error NullPointerException

I did not made any changes, but a I have restart services. Server cache cleaning is a good idea. I'll try it.

Re: Java error NullPointerException

Just a thought, have you got any UI Rules for calculation durations that trigger "after new item has been opened"?

Re: Java error NullPointerException

Hi
Planned fields not filled automacally, do you have the UI rule for that? turn off the rule, then people can open the SC and you will have time to resolve the problem.

Re: Java error NullPointerException

It's seems to me, an error was occure when we made changes in workgroups, cause only some of all SC-s open with error. That's SC-s assigned to new wrokgroup.

Re: Java error NullPointerException

HI
Calculation by Planned can be associated the WG work hours(WH) - General Settings -> Application->Planed Time calculation. Look, if you selected "Open hours...", then your system try calculate planned duration by WG WH. Check the WH, perhaps is empty? or select another mode "24*7" as example, relogin and try, did you have the same error?
