Solution

Re: Java console is not opening

Hi there,

We have found an error on that using ovconsolecmd to start the client seems to ignore the client settings. The workround is to use Java webstart or edit the ovconsole.bat file to replace:

-DServer=%ServerName%
with

-DServer=name or IPA address of your server.

If you are using a non-standard port, you may need to edit that as well.

We have logged this as a bug with HP.

Hope this helps

Re: Java console is not opening

Hi Ruth,

Thanx for your quick reply.
I edited the ovconsole.bat by giving ipadress of the application server. But still i am facing the same problem.I also checked with the servername.
What port do i need to mention in the ovconsole.bat file?..

Awaiting your reply.

Thanx,
nagu

Re: Java console is not opening

Hi there,

Unless you altered the port, you should not need to amend the BAT file for that.

The error message you have shown basically means that the machine the client is trying to connect to is not available or does not have SD running on it.

Can you try java web start instead and see if that works?

Re: Java console is not opening

Hi there,

Java web start is described on page 107 of the Install Guide. It is an alternative way of setting up and running clients that means you do not have to install and upgrade each client machine.

Hope this helps
