Is there a Person to Service link?

Hi,

I'm using SD 4.5 on SP17.

On the SLA form we have associated Person records, which means that only those people are elligable to use that SLA and the related Service.

The question is, is there a way to show the link on the person record?

I would like to be able to tell which SLA's a person is linked to.

Thanks

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Hi Peter,

As far as I can see you cannot - which seems odd because on an organisation form you can put what SLA's they receive.

You could experiment with explorer views to see if you can show it on a leaf but a quick look on my SP24 system only again seems to do this for organisation. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Hello Peter,

Do not ever forget: Sd_dataform and "Smart Actions" are your friend.

Create a smart action in any entity you want and use this command

sd_dataform.bat "SLA" +"Persons.Person.Searchcode=[;Searchcode]

For example to get the SLAs on the caller of service call:

sd_dataform.bat "SLA" +"Persons.Person.Searchcode=[Caller;Searchcode]" -ListAlways

If you want to create a smart action on persons it should be like this:

sd_dataform.bat "SLA" +"Persons.Person.Searchcode=[Searchcode]" -ListAlways

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

... and if you fill risky enough you can even add the list of slas to the person form. But it requires modification on SD Database.

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Just out of interest, how would you go about amending the DB to show the associations on the Person form?

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Hello Peter,

There are two ways for doing such job. The first is by manipulating directly the sd database. The idea is that you create a custom reference field on person and then modify it's type, from entity reference to entity reference set.

The second is using IDK designer (a tool included already in OVSD if you know how to run it). However to use IDK designer you need to have a very good understanding of the OVSD layout.

And the result... see the attached image

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Btw, if you haven't noticed, the "Users on CI" is NOT read only in the person form :)

Gotta love IDK Designer :)

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

George,

This is intriguing, two further questions:

1. Do you fancy doing a bit of contracting work for us for a couple of months, lol.

2. How do I run this IDK Designer?

Thanks

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Hi George,

Can you please forward the details of IDK Designer to alokshrotri@gmail.com?

I would really like to see this secretive tool :-)

I searched on HP site but didn't get any info. It is documented by HP in any of their official SD or Service Pack manuals? Couldn't find though?

Re: Is there a Person to Service link?

Guys, IDK Designer is a very dangerous tool to play with. Don't make this thread like the presentation of Service Manager 7.

Furthermore to use IDK Designer to its full potential you need some external libraries which I cannot give.

I cannot support requests about it and certainly HP won't accept requests about it. If you are fully determined to play with it, just look for classes that have main().

And if and when you find a way to play with it MAKE SURE to do that on a test environment!
