Importing Confif Items - Basic Question

Team,

Firsly want to say thanks to a great Forum.
Iv performed a search but could really find the solution to my problem.

Bascially, i have an excel spreadsheet (attached). It contains CI's for our workstations. There is obviously hundreds more.

I just want to edit the spreadsheet by adding in the rest then want to import back to SD.

what is the simplist way to do this?

Re: Importing Confif Items - Basic Question

Dear,

indeed the example in de data_exchange.pdf will get you started.
Never the less if this is your first import you might also want to check page 49 for configuration file keywords.

Re: Importing Confif Items - Basic Question

Guys,

I have followed the example step by step, but unfortunatly have come grinding halt.

When i try to covert the xls to an xml, i get the following message.

Attached is a screenshot of all the components + the error message.

Re: Importing Confif Items - Basic Question

+ Phoneconf.ini

[DSN]
Name=DSNPHONE
USR=
PWD=

[SYSTEM]
LOG=TRUE
XML=TRUE
LOG_FILE=\phone.log
OUTPUT_FILE=\Phone.xls
XML_OUTPUT_FILE=\phone.xml
APPLICATION_NAME=PHONELIST
ENCODING=ISO-8859-1

[CLASSES]
NAME=CLASSPHONE

[CLASSPHONE]
SOURCE=PHONELBL
ATT=[LASTNAME],[FIRSTNAME],[JOBTITLE].[SEARCHCODE]
COLUMNS=[LASTNAME],[FIRSTNAME],[JOBTITLE].[SEARCHCODE]
LOADTABLE=TRUE

Also, in the example its got
COLUMNS=[LASTNAME].[FIRSTNAME],[JOBTITLE].[SEARCHCODE]

I assume the (.) between lastname and firstname is a typo and it should be a (,)

Re: Importing Confif Items - Basic Question

HI
You have two mistaks,
COLUMNS=[LASTNAME].[FIRSTNAME],[JOBTITLE].[SEARCHCODE]
remove . and set ,
and
PHONELIST must be defined in Excel as Insert->Name->Define in new windos set that "PHONELIST" as name for your cells but not as
APPLICATION_NAME=PHONELIST
