Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Hello Ian,

Some application has take over the association of ".ico" files. (Usually this is the work of ACDSEE). You must clear the association if you want the icons to be seen in OVSD.

Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Thanks for the response. I am trying to reassociate the .ico file with Service desk but when I right click on one of the files and go to properties to change. I am not seeing Service desk listed. I have VLC media player and Xilisoft Audio converter installed. these are the only two suspects

Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Hello Ian,

You don't have to associate .ico with service desk. In fact, you shouldn't! I think that freeing .ico from being associated with an application would be enough!

How do i do this? It says that the Icons are associated with an unknown application.

Thanks

Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Hello Ian,

Here, at my windows system, the .ico are not associated with a program.

Open a windows explorer and select Tools/Folder Options. Go to "File Type" tab and locate ICO from the extensions column. Press advanced and delete all actions. It should do it.

Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Maybe there is a problem with your browser because I can open the attachment. And Vasily's post is the solution!

Anyway, open the regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ico

(Default) must have the value icofile
Content Type : image/x-icon
PerceivedType: image

Re: Icons not Showing properly in Windows XP

Guys,

You are the greatest!. a program named Nero Photosnap view was assigned to the .ico value in the registry.

Thanks a Million for your help.
