How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

I want to integrate HPOVSD with out phone system.

The unique key here is the callers internal extension.

The phone number is listed in the person card as - Telephone: #12345# #12345678#

As I said the telephone system only shows the local exentsion e.g. 12345 and I want limit my query to this so I tried the following:

"C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\service desk 4.5\client\bin\sd_dataform" "Service Call (AK)" "+Caller.Telephone=*12345*" -Forcenew

But it wont work, doesnt seem to accept any type of wildards. It works fine if I enter the info exactly as it says (#12345# #12345678#)

Any ideas?

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

Hi there,

Try
"+Caller.Telephone[Contains]12345"

Not sure if it will work with frocenew but have a go

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

hi
create/activate one more text field and use as primary phone #. create the rule: copy text from Telephone to Primary Telephone.
use this one in sd_dataform.

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

Ah yes good idea.

However, the phone numbers are located in the person form. The UI rule would not trigger when I us sd_dataform to open a new service call?

I guess I can run an import updating all persons with their respective internal phone numbers.

Then a DB rule to enter the internal phone number once a new user is created in the future.

My only challenge now is how to have the DB rule strip the other info and only copy over the internal number. Do you know?

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

HI
If you ask how copy existing numbers, so use the same rule what will needed when Person be created, but temporary change condition, exml: When Person modefy and field "Primary Telephone" start from "Update", Action copy...
Use Update all for Person, set "Primary Telephone" as Update.
after pass, change back conditions.
Beliave I understood you correctly,

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

Hmm no I think you misunderstood me, or rather I did not understand you :)

Let me rephrase:

I have 2 fields:

Phone number: #12345# #12345678#
Internal number: (currently empty)

I want to trim the phone number with a rule so that only the internal number (1234) is copied over in the "internal number" field.

Is this possible with a DB rule?

Re: How to use wildcard variable with sd_dataform

Ah, If your nr. have constant lenght, so use Trim functions, if not - create short script for parse your text and divide on 2 separeted text.

Jan,

Just a warning that your system mail fail if, in the future, you have another site with a different base number, but the same internal extensions.
