How to determine to set the appropriate number of restriction view for each items..?

Such as 1000 records for CIs view, 500 for service call.

Please suggest how to calculate and what are things to be consideration..?

Hello veerat,

there is no easy answer for this. It depends on the views and of course the number of stored records. A change view with more fields can be faster than a service call with fewer fields if you have much more service call than changes.

For our part we consider 5000 a logical restriction for service calls, 1000 for CIs etc.

I've found you can get away with quite small values (EG 1000) IF you provide a CHART view which shows them all (eg by CATEGORY). That way anyone who needs to know how many CIs there are can use the mouse float-over on the chart to see the figures even if they can't retrieve all the records!

Note - I think we've been promised role-dependent restrictions in SD 5.0 but don't hold your breath!
