How to create a CI to CI relation in a DB Rule?

Hi,

I'm running SD 4.5 on SP17.

I'd like to know if its possible to create a UI to UI relation from within a DB rule?

I have a DB rule, see attached but it doesn't seem to do anything?

I think I need more fields in the table to create the link but I don't know how to make it happen.

Am I right in thinking that its the ITSM_CI_RELATIONS table that holds the link? If so the table has five attributes, (excuding its own PK).

CIR_LOCKSEQ
CIR_CIFROM_OI
CIR_CITO_OID
CIR_RTY_OID
CIR_TEM_OID

What are the last two RTY and TEM?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: How to create a CI to CI relation in a DB Rule?

Hello Peter,

This rule will not work because CI Relation is NOT a part of CI thus it cannot be updated directly.

CIR_TEM_OID is the template of CI Relation and CIR_RTY_OID is the OID of the relation type.

George,

So there's no way to create a CI to CI relation other than through the client manually?

Hello Peter,

Of course there is another way. You can use sd_event or sd_import.

Thanks George,

It may be just as easy to do it through the client?

If I create a view containing only the CI I want to link to this one other CI. Then link them from the main CI one at a time using the view.

Thanks anyway, at least I know now.
