Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi Fayaz,

You could achieve this by an UI rule using the current person attribute.

1. When a form is opened.
2. Where Status is Anything.
3. Update Information log with current person and system date.

This updates both, the person's name and the timestamp.
Am not sure which version of SD you are using, but I guess this should work.

Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi there,

Try 2 DB rules with one on create and the other on modify with a data update action similar to:

Information set to function Concatenate(Registration;Modified WITH (Concatenate (": " WITH Information field))

This will put date/time: in front of the Information that was already in the field.

Hope this helps, Ruth

Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi Ruth,
The DB Rule worked but it is overwriting the Information filed.
I set the rule as
when modified,Information set to Registration;Modified and plus Information set to Information
now when I update the call it is updating the time and date but I am losing the old information in Information filed, any way I am on test server.
Can you please send me step by step procedure.

Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi there,

Try for modified:

Concatenate(Attribute Registration Modified, WITH Concatenate(value", ", WITH Attribute Information))

and for created

Concatenate(Attribute Registration Created, WITH Concatenate(value", ", WITH Attribute Information))

Hope this helps, ruth

Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi,

you need to have 2 text fields.

Text field 1 is where you put in the information update.

Text field 2 is where the information from text field is stored and the time stamp added. Generally people set text field 2 to be read only so people cannt change it.

I thing your issue here is that you are using just 1 field and need to use 2 seperate fields as stated above and as documented in the previous attachment

Re: How to auto update date and time in Information filed

Hi,

yes- it might be best to save your current rule and start a new one. You need to add in an additional concatenation of a fixed value. You double click the fixed value word and it opens a text box. In there you hit return 2 times and choose ok.

That saves the fixed value as a carraige return. Sometimes I found 2 carraige returns needed. You then concatenate this fixed value of carraige returns within the rule and it will give you the carraige return that you want.

There are numerous posts on this if you are looking for screenshots etc.
