How are Banners triggered?

Hi,

When a UI rule is set to trigger a banner, what is the process?

Does the UI rule trigger the Banner locally?
Or does the UI rule trigger and then a message is sent back to the app server and then the app server then requests the client to launch the banner?

We are trying to determine the network traffic that triggering a banner will generate.

Thanks

Re: How are Banners triggered?

Hello Emille,

Normaly banner is executed through DB rules at a target machine. What actually happens, is that the application server sends a request to port 50998 of the target machine. At this port the OVSD agent is listening and it carries the commands it gets from the server. If the command is to execute banner, then it executes banner.

Emille,

Once you have worked out the network traffic generated, it would be interesting to see the results posted here.
