Failed to open connection to service desk data

We moved the SD database to a new server and when setting up a new Database account, receive the following error:

"Failed to open connection to service desk data.
[TDS Driver]Connection was closed from the SQL Server site or network at header (0)"

Using SD 4.5 SP17

I tested the move in a test environment and of course it worked without any issues.

Does anyone have any ideals?

thanks, Gail

Re: Failed to open connection to service desk data

Hi,

Some tips that might worth to check.

1. Make sure that you are enterig the correct DB connection IP port.

2. Also, leave the instance name empty, do not use instance name in the SD connection settings.

Re: Failed to open connection to service desk data

Hi there...
1. There may be chances of typing the IP address is wrong

2. If you are using instance in the Database then the port for connection in the server setting wizard is 1954

Check that your hostname to your new db server is resolving correctly to the right ip address.

Re: Failed to open connection to service desk data

Hi Gail,

Please, did you manage to solve your problem? Exactly the same thing is happening here. I'm getting this error on a new server (while on other two servers, this connection to the same database on the same port works)....

Thanks a lot for any advice,

Re: Failed to open connection to service desk data

Michaela,

This issue was the IP Port number changed. Our network group opened a different port for the new server instead of the default port (1433).

In the Server configuration window, the connection property window, check the IP Port.

Found out what IP Port is opened.

Hope this helps,
Gail
