Debug of UI and DB rules

Hi!
Does any one know if there is a way to debug a UI or DB rule? I remember time ago, I read somewhere one can run a command to do this, but I can not find such a document again. Does any one knows about this?

Many thans

Re: Debug of UI and DB rules

Hi there,

You can set Debug on rules (by Tools>System>System Panel>General settings and selecting the rule debug option near the bottom of the scree.

See also this posting which includes a reference,

Hope this helps

Re: Debug of UI and DB rules

Leep,

To enable monitoring of the rule actions open the General Settings dialog
within the administrator console. (../hpOpenView/System
Panel/General Settings) and check the check box Rule Manager
Debug (More Detailed Entries in Log Files).

The information that can be monitored includes the following:
â ¢ an object of a particular entity is changed and verified
â ¢ a condition is fulfilled
â ¢ a scheduled action has been executed
â ¢ an action has been scheduled (DB rules)
Database rule information is written to the file logserver.txt and UI
rule information is written to logclient.txt.

Re: Debug of UI and DB rules

Hi!
Many thanks for your quick replies.

I remeber that one can run a command (just remember jview ... like), then you can know if the rules' setting correct. Is there such a function or I remember wrong?

Many thanks,

Re: Debug of UI and DB rules

hi Leep,

there is no such feature (command to debug the rule) provided in OVSD. Debug has to be done via Admin Console

Re: Debug of UI and DB rules

Hi Leep,

As you mention there is a command line that has this functionality.
When you extract the service pack go and look in:
C:\documents and setting\.....\service desk 4.5 service pack 19\doc\itsm007071
there you will find what you are loking for.
