Data > Codes - How to change selection list type on form?

How do you control how a Data > Codes item appears on the form? For some, they appear as a dropdown list, for others you have to click a button to choose from another dialog window? I see no properties for these codes, nor any other way to set the behavior. See attachment.

Thanks!
Chris

Hi,

You can't change a custom code field appearance. Platform and Hardware device examples in your screenshot are hard coded fields (Data->Codes section in administrator console), comes with service desk. Probably their names are changed.

Chris, those codes that you open by clicking a button are tree type codes. These fields are built-in and SD doesn't provide the ability to create custom codes of this type.

Button type of code fields are pre-defined. The custom fields, which have a relation (like Organization/Workgroup in a person category) produce such behaviour. However, the ones which we create normally, to store data specific to individual module, will have the drop-down functionality only.

Thank you all for your help, we'll have to look into alternate methods of tracking this data if our needs for a faster workflow prevail.

Thanks!
