Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

Relation not defined: PARENT on entity
this is the error I'm getting. I'm just starting this effort to import into my environment. See attached for my .ini file.
I've completed my entity mappings (attached as well).
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
Thanks much for your time!

Re: Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

You try to use CI to CI relation? I`ve tried this. but it seems to be impossible.
I used Extraction configuration wizard (sd_ecw.bat) and it said me that CI to CI relation is unsupported.
From another point of view you have to map NODES external attribute to CI:ParentCI, as you mentioned in your ini-file
PARENT=Nodes. Without this line your parent relation name is PARENT by default. So, in this case you should map PARENT as external attribute.

Re: Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

Hi Larry,
in your ini file you should put brackets [] around the parent searchcode like:

PARENT_RELATION=[NODEKEY]=[SEARCHCODE]

Check the xml structure, you should have all the "children CI's" listed below your Parent CI's.
Try it and let us know.

Re: Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

Spyros - Thanks for the post. I did try doing that to no avail. The biggest thing I found out here is that these variables HAVE TO BE CAPS (that was annoying).

Roman - not clear what you are saying exactly:
How would I do this? NODES is a CLASS not a variable.
What variable do I need to map CI:ParentCI to? The Nodes class is the parent, the interfaces class belongs to the Nodes (router with interfaces).
Thanks for the post.

See attached for the .xml file for export data. It looks to be formatted correctly.

Re: Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

I have added that to no avail.
Thanks for the info though.
I am using SD 5.1. What v. are you using?
I did not see an output GUI like that.
Thanks

Re: Data Exchange - Parent Relationship

this image was extracted from DataExchange guide for SD 4.5. SD 5.1 has visually another interface but logically they are almoast equal.
