Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

HI,

SD45SP7

I would like to get a little more information about the rule for concatenating the First Name and Last Name and update the Name field, especially for the conditions and evulation of the rule.

I currently have 4000 entries in the Person table, and would like to change each entry to First Name and Last Name.

Please assist with the DB rule to do so.

Many Thanks
Shaun

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

Hi Shaun

To update your current data you should use Data Exchange (if you need any support with it just ask) and for new data you can use this DB Rule:
1. When person is created or modified;
2. Condition
OR:
- Full name;First name(*) is anything
- Full name;Last name(*) is anything
3. Update data:
Name set to (CONCATENATE [Full name First name] With (CONCATENATE , With [Full name Last name]))

I hope it help

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

Piotr,

One thing, on the update datat, the string looks like this

Name set to (Concatenate [Full Name First Name] with [Full Name Last Name])

Just verifying from your original concatenate string.

Thanks

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

When you use "Name set to (Concatenate [Full Name First Name] with [Full Name Last Name])" you will get JhonSmith
and with my syntax "Name set to (CONCATENATE [Full name First name] With (CONCATENATE , With [Full name Last name]))" you will get Jhon, Smith

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

Piotr,

Ok, and how would I leave out the comma between the names?

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

Piotr,

What I found with the 'Fixed value' is when you press TAB thereafter, the OK becomes available.

Thanks for information I didn't think to use tab to activate OK :-)

Re: Concatenate the First Name and Last Name

Hi,

I have a problem when I try to do the same rule. I read these posts and I think you may help me.
I don't seem to be able to set the CONCATENATE [] with the [FULL NAME, LAST NAME].

I want something like this:
FULL NAME, FIRST NAME = John
FULL NAME, LAST NAME = Doe

NAME = John Doe (not NAME = John, Doe)

With the empty space between names, but when I set the CONCATENATE function value with an empty space it errors saying that the field value is not filled. Is there any way to tell Service Desk to set an empty space?

Thanks.
