Client Install via msi

Hello all,

I have searched the forum and cannot find an answer to this question.

What are the steps to configuring the client install msi via SMS? (i'm not an sms guy...)

What I need to do is remove ALL clients due to mismatching install locations (different dir's) then reinstall the client from one share and bring that client up to sp18...

Any pointers? Any documentation on this? I'll continue to look but I just can't seem to find anything specific.

Thank you all

Re: Client Install via msi

Hi Marc

First you need the uninstall instructions for the windows installer. For this you need the GUID of the packages that are already installed. Do you know this or how to find?

the command line for uninstalling a msi package is: msiexec /x "package GUID"

So you have to find all package GUID for packages that might be installed on the clients and then just run the in a .bat file. If the package is not even there windows installer will ignore the command and continue with the next one.

Does this help a little?

HI
For XP, don't use Silen mode, Client will not work.
