Changes without WOs - is it possible?

Hi,
I would like to use only simple changes (without WOs) for recording asset changes (f.e. picking equipment fom stock, giving it back ..) After saving such a change, database rule should start and set some fields in asset record (like status, location).
Is it possible or do I have to relate at least 1 WO to a change ? I am asking because it works for me when using change with WO but not with change without WO.

Thanks

Jitka

Re: Changes without WOs - is it possible?

Hi Jitka,

Using a WO allows you to put in planned values for the CI that will be updated when the WO hits a specified status. This facility is only available with WOs.

Is this what you mean about it not working?

If not could you explain abit more.

Re: Changes without WOs - is it possible?

Ruth,

thank you for your quick reaction. What I tried to do was db rule
When change is created
Where Medium is(exactly)XX
Update Asset (Update data) Asset Item;Asset User set to Name
When I used this as WO DB rule, it worked.
But not as Change DB rule. What I am doing wrong?

Re: Changes without WOs - is it possible?

Hi Jitka,

I would suggest you put rule debug on (Tools>System>System Panel>General settings) and then try the rule again. Check in logserver.txt to see whether the rule is actually firing.

Hope this helps

Re: Changes without WOs - is it possible?

Ruth,

thanks for advice. I have to wait with this after our SD rush hours pass. I'll be back in one hour.

Hi there,

Debug will make your log file very large so switch it off as soon as you have the information you need

What a silly mistake! O instead of 0 !
(It is not good idea to optimalize your SD behavior late at night...)
Thank you, Ruth, for directing me at right course.

After setting right condition, change db rule fired successfully.
Thanks !
