Can we reset Service Call ID # back to zero

Is it possible to reset the Service Call and Work Order ID# back to zero?

We tested all business logics and scripts on a Management Server. This server will turn out to be a production server. Users will start to register their daily support calls. They want to reset the call tracking number back to zero (0), instead of starting from #234 for Servie Call, or #54 for Work Order tickets.

Please advise.

Re: Can we reset Service Call ID # back to zero

Hi Danny,

Yes you can but you have to do at the database level and should only reset it to a number which is higher than any records of the type in the system (i.e. delete all old records first.) Not sure if you actually need to reset it to 1 rather than zero but perhaps you know better than me

The SQL is something like:

UPDATE IFC_SEQUENCES
SET SEQ_USN=new value
WHERE SEQ_CAT_OID in (
SELECT ENT_OID
FROM IFC_ENTITIES
WHERE ENT_NAME=â nameâ );

where name is object type and new value is the number you want.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your info. We are using Oracle DB. What will be the Oracle commands?

Hi Danny,

the SQL command is same on Oracle but be very carefull. You must delete all servicecalls with ID >= then the new value otherwise you'll get unique constraint violation error.
Servicecall ID must be unique number in the Servicecalls database table (ITSM_SERVICECALLS).
