CIT_ID Column in ITSM_CONFIGURATION_ITEMS table

Hello,

What is the use of the CIT_ID column in ITSM_CONFIGURATION_ITEMS table of service desk?

The data dictionary says its description as 'Functional ID'.

What is the difference between CIT_OID and CIT_ID column?

Can CIT_ID column contain duplicates values?

Thanks and Regards,
Prasanna.

Re: CIT_ID Column in ITSM_CONFIGURATION_ITEMS table

Prasanne,

In general, the OID is the primary key in the database for the table. This value will appear as the foreign key in related tables. You never see OIDs in any forms or views.

The ID for CIs is the value you see in the field ID. It is assigned automatically by OVSD. I do not think it should ever have duplicates. It is simply a sequential integer, incremented for each new CI.

Re: CIT_ID Column in ITSM_CONFIGURATION_ITEMS table

Thank You Josh,

I came across this ID when creating a new CI using web-api. I got the error "java.Lang.RuntimeException: For configuration item the following fields are required: id".

This is the case when the "ID after CI Creation" check box is 'on' or 'off'.

Will this ID not be generated automatically when creating new CI automatically?

Regards,
Prasanna.
