Block User Login

Hi all!

I need to do an upgrade to our Service Desk environment. Is there a way to leave the application server service running and block users from connecting? I looked through the system control panel and did not find a setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Block User Login

Probably the easiest way to do this is to remove the user licences (Keep an electronic copy of both the keys and the annotations strings) so that end users are not able to log in. The System account will always be able to login so use that to check the upgrade. After you are happy with the upgrade add the user licences back into the system.

Re: Block User Login

Hello Jason,

Run the server settings editor. In the tab [General] uncheck "Accept console clients". This will disable all java clients from connecting to service desk.

If you want to block the creation/update/viewing of tickets through e-mail, you should go to the tab [SMTP] and uncheck "Activate SMTP protocol".

Also, if you run "Service Pages" make sure that the service is stopped.

If you do all the above, no one (except web-api programs) will be able to connect to service desk server.
