Better method to choose Service in HPOVSD 4.5?

Hi

Our service tree has aprox 3000+ services.
It is important when logging a call that the call gets logged against the correct service.

You can imagine that the quick find view for this is very cumbersome to use with so many services.

Is there any other smart method out there to choose a service? Perhaps invoking a webpage of some sort with a better layout that would insert the chosen service ID back into the service call?

Why not create filtered Views and select the option to apply filters in Advanced Find, Quick Find and Overview Actions?

Also, Service Desk normally picks the best Service match according to Caller/Organization/Configuration Item...

Hope this helps.

The simplest solution could be to adopt a strict naming convention for Services where the most common keyword or a group name of some sort is first. That way, once caller is entered, the OVSD user can enter the right keyword stub and quickly limit the list of services displayed.
Depends on whether or not your service structure lends itself to this sort of naming, and if one prefix word would work. Doesn't have to be unique, just enough to limit the list displayed.
