Attachment issue

I have this problem not able to open the attachment which is attached in the HP openview service call.

When it opens, a modularControl Error occur.

Another problem with attachments, when i do attach a file, and read the service call afterwards, the call will have added 2 extra files to the service call (content1.html, content.txt)

All help will be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Re: Attachment issue

Hi there,

The "extra" files: do these occur when a call is emailed inot the desk? If so, this will happen if the mail is in html format.

As regards the other issue, please post details of teh attachment settings.

Re: Attachment issue

Hi

Thank you for the reply.

I typed a pretty long mail to explain the issue. But when I submit the reply gave a error, so here I go again. :)

The extra files do occur when being send a only text file so service desk.(as a test) We get an automated reply back, With (content1.html) attachment is added to the mail.

My Attachment settings is as follow:
Target Folder: ovsd
Passive FTP is ticked
(not sure what other info you need)

When I do open a attachment (content1.html) in webconsole, i get a ModularControl Error still.

Thank you again for the reply.

Re: Attachment issue

It happens on both of them, Web and normal Client.

But the error on the ModularControl only happens on the Web client.

I am confused:

What error happens on both the Client and web console?

Re: Attachment issue

Sorry about the confusion.

I mean the (content1.html) attachment that attaches itself automaticly happens on both clients.

But when I open any attachments on the web client. I get that modularControl Error.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you for the speedy replies

Re: Attachment issue

Hi there,

As far as I know, the attaching of the files (content.html etc) cannot be avoided if the formatof the inbound email is not plain text.

But if the opening error only happens via the web console and via the full client then it would seem to me that it must be an issue between the PC where the browser is running and the web console server.

Does it happen if you use a web browser on the actual machine which is running the web service?

Hope this helps, Ruth

Re: Attachment issue

Hi

Had a look at the last option you gave me. And it happens even when I log on localy to the actual machine. Which is making me think if it could not be a Java problem.

On the attachment side, even if I send a blank mail(plain subject) with no html on it, I still get the (content1.html).

Could the attachment issue have something to do with my exhange server being migrated from lotus Notes to MS Outlook (exchange 2003)?

thks

Re: Attachment issue

Hi there,

As regards the web console error - can you use FTP at all from there?

As regards the content.html attachment - it is format of the email itself that matters - see attached - try it with plain text option.

Hope this helps, Ruth

Re: Attachment issue

Hi

Do think i might have cracked the problem. I have noticed that all my (content1.html) is kept in my c:\windows\temp folder.

I have received a answer from HP that i need a patch to get rid of that problem permanently. But in the meantime, i need to stop my services running, and purge my cache and delete the contents in the temp folder.

Thank you for all your help. Seems like this issue is resolved.

Daniel
