Archiving problem

I've tried to run sd_archive.bat from the command line before setting it up as a scheduled job.

The only parameters passed via the command line are user and password. I would like the job to use all the settings from the console window --> Archive Settings.

The attached Word doc shows the error I get. Can anybody shed any light on what might be the problem?

Thanks

Re: Archiving problem

Hi Peter,

This is a known error; the workround is;

When you use the sd_archive.bat in a command line from the SD server you need also to specify the server name and the port number if different from the default ie:

sd_archive -usr=admin -pwd=abcdefg -srv=sdserver1:30998 "-loc=/home/archive files"

The detail explanation for the archiving can be found from the service desk admin. guide, chapter 11 Archiving

Hope this helps

Re: Archiving problem

Hi Peter,

Re: Archiving problem

Ruth,

I've included the server name, port number and location as you suggested. I've read the chapter in the manual.

Now when I run it from the cmd line it doesn't give me any error messages but it doesn't do anything either?

All the entries in the Audit file are still there and there's nothing in the location that I specified in the command?

I have run it from the console previously and it worked ok. I'd like to setup a job scheduled to run automatically.

Is there something else I need to do to get it to run from a command line?

Re: Archiving problem

Hi Peter,

I got that advice from a technical doc I found by entering the java error details and archive into the self solve search (http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/do/advanced-search )

Have a look and see if there is something more
