Re: App server error:Flush Failed

Hi there,

When I restart the service that issue is getting solved, but after some time the SD app server console will show the same error.

hi!

We too have this issue. What is the patch level ? We observed this when we did NLB. HP was ubable to help us in this case, and we are living with this.

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

Hi Smitha,

I would call this message as a symptom, rather than an error message. We get this, message when response time is getting worse and performance degradation. Basically, the message means the device that you are connected to has reset the connection and the connection is no longer available. Its kind of like "the system is really busy" - try again in a few seconds.

This could be the results from the server trying to desterilize the bad rules and failed to response to requests or its could be due to other problems.
Pls refer http://openview.hp.com/sso/ecare/getsupportdoc?docid=ITSM004684

This announcement occured when the AppsServer has information for a client (the client did ask for these information) and send this to the client.
Than it seems that the client is not alive any more (closed for some reason before it receives the requested information)
At that point the appserver gets this message (sending the packages to the client was unsuccessfully) and the AppServer close the channel to this not exciting client.

This is a normal way of transaction performed by the Application Server when the client is not alive any more

So, we are just living with this (error)message. HP tired their best to help us resolve this, but still we have this message comming in.

Other recommended actions are check for bad db rules and do a check for the DB. Hope you know how to do that.

Ashly

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

Hi Ashly,

Thanks for the information. Yes, I know to check the DB rules (but not an expert). And also in the App server console we are getting Error while writing in log file: Out of memory? Trace Null. I understood that all these are performance issues, but can we minimize these type error messages?
Our App server has got only 2GB RAM.

Smitha.

If you are running SD as service, what are the parametrs set in installservice.bat ?
is the server configuer for "Optimize Perfomance for Background process"(in My COmputer->Proporty->Advanced->Perfomnace, if you are running as service ?
Is the virtul mem setting fine ?

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

Hi Ashly,

Pls. find attached the sd_server.bat and installservice.bat files.
In the partition which SD runs has got 5.00GB free space.

In APP server we are installed Windows Server 2003. So in the advanced tab of performance, Processor resources is set for adjust for the best performance of Programs.
But Memory usage is adjusted for the best performance for System cache.
Virtual Memory:
----------------
Total paging files size for all drives: 4096MB.
Taskbar Performance tab:
-------------------------
Physical Memory (K)
Total: 2096632
Available: 1259720
System cache: 1219824.

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

hi Smitha,

01. Does that mean you are running SD as service ?

02. In the sd_server.bat, you have enbled both the options, select only one. (ie : just below the line "rem use this options when you have memory problems:, is enebled. That menas, you want SD to use more RAM and this will give you good perfomance. But you have selected the next line too. You can add a "rem" in the starting of this line.)
04. You have mentoed" -Xms256M -Xmx512M"(in both the files), which will help SD to use max of 512 MB onout of your 2 GB RAM. Consider to incress this, to take the advantage of your 2 GB.
05. These changes to be made on the installservice.bat, then run reinstallservice.bat.
06. Consider to configer your server for best perfomnace for "Background process", since you are planing to run this as service.

Pls feel free to contact for any support.

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

hi!

keep 512 MB RAM to OS and other applictions (i think there is no other applications running other than SD on the same server) and allocate 1.5 GB to SD.

Re: App server error:Flush Failed

Hi Ashly,

Thank u very much. Yes, we are running SD as service. As you mentioned I'll set the memory for best performance for programs, since it needs a restart of the server, able to do only in the mid night hours. After that I'll try allocating more memory to SD.
