Alphabetic sorting in Custom Fields (OV 4.5 SP12)

Hi,

I'm looking to know is it possible to sort the contents of a custom field alphabeltically if it needs to be edited. Foe example if when I create a custom field & enter in A, B, D but then later have to put in C it will look like this: A, B, D,C & will not be sorted alphabetically.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Peter

Re: Alphabetic sorting in Custom Fields (OV 4.5 SP12)

Hi Peter,

Do you mean the custom field is a text field? If so, I can only suggest copying to some other application which can sort it and then copy back.

May I ask why you need to do this?

Re: Alphabetic sorting in Custom Fields (OV 4.5 SP12)

Hi Ruth,

No, it's a code field (I ommited to add that). This is for a new field which is being requested that will more than likely be added to over time.

Thanks,

Re: Alphabetic sorting in Custom Fields (OV 4.5 SP12)

Hi Peter,

the default code fields should sort themselves automatically. Add in a new code field value and when you refresh it should find its place.

In the custom code fields you can sort where the values will be by moving the value up or down (use the up/ down arrows on the tool bar) or by changing the number associated with the value.
