Activating a field on a Closed or Closed [Read Only] Record.

Hello all,

We currently have a button (boolean expression) that opens a window when clicked. However, when a record is "Closed" or "Closed [Read Only]" the button can be clicked but the boolean expression doesn't change so the rule doesn't fire.

Is it possible to make a field editable after a record has been closed ???

I have tried with a UI rule, but this makes multiple fields editable not just the one we want to work.

UI Rule "

After existing item has been opened
where Status (*) equals Closed [Read Only]
BOOLEAN EXPRESSION FIELD (Update Data) BOOLEAN EXPRESSION FIELD set to [Status State Active];
"

Has anyone got any ideas???

We are using SD 4.5 (SP 21)

Hi Brendon,

You can use category to doit.

Enable the field for a perticular category let say enable for category "A".

Create a DB rule to set the category as "A" when item is closed.

Hope it will help you if changing a category is not having any impact in procees of your organization.
