ACES and Generic Relations (ver 4.5 SP 18)

Our dear software editor, in its infinite wisdom, has decided not to include generic relations as an item type that may be migrated via ACES. We are starting to use these generic relations, but this is creating chaos with our well regulated release procedure.

We have come up with the following procedure:

1) Create the change using generic relations in TEST.

2) Manually create the same change in QUALITY CONTROL and get release authorization.

3) Manually create the same change in PRODUCTION, and get end user sign off.

4) Copy PRODUCTION database to QUALITY CONTROL and to TEST.

Has anyone got a more satisfactory way of releasing changes using generic relations ?

Thanks,
Josh

Re: ACES and Generic Relations (ver 4.5 SP 18)

Hi Josh,

Basically No - I cannot think of a more satisfactory way as the only other ways would be:

1. Do it at DB level using SQL which in my opinion would be far too high risk.

2. Redo it manually and my experience of generic relationships (admittedly pretty limited) leads me to believe that is also a high risk.

Sorry if this is not the answer you hoped for.

Regards

Ruth
