20 hrs for "(re)generate Database Views"?

Hi,

I was wondering how long it takes to regenerate the Database Views in SD.

After 20hrs now the process is still running.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

Re: 20 hrs for "(re)generate Database Views"?

Hi,

Surely it will not take 20 hours. Something must be wrong. Are checking database's views periodically to observe if there is any changes? If nothing changes, process may be stucked. Also check behaviour of jview.exe using task manager (Select view-> select columns, check all I/O related fields.

Re: 20 hrs for "(re)generate Database Views"?

Thanks for the response.

I stopped the process and tried to generate the views a second time. Same result. Process seems to be stucked.

There is some writing (very slow) on the oracle DB, which can be the result of a different process.

But the SD ServerService (server) and jview.exe (client) are not responding.

Furthermore I couldn't notice any change in the database views I checked.

Re: 20 hrs for "(re)generate Database Views"?

Than there's definitly something wrong.

The 4th time I'm doing the update and nothing changes. Even if I try to start the SD Client directly on the server.

It starts off wrinting to the DB quite fast, but suddenly drops after 30sec by factor 100.

Re: 20 hrs for "(re)generate Database Views"?

I checked the logfile. The following section is the part where it gets stucked.

As stated there's supposed to be an invalid charecter. But I can't figure out an invalid charecter??

--------------------------------------------
logfile:

Thu, 13/10/2005 17:41:23 JDBC error 911: ORA-00911: invalid character
, SQL state: 42000 for query: CREATE VIEW v_configuration_item AS
SELECT T1.cit_oid AS object_id
