"Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

All,

We have a very strange issue and we not getting anywhere closer to resolving it. We have been using Object Migrator 7.5 for many months without any trouble. A few weeks ago our Oracle Apps Tech Stack was Upgraded(not sure if this has anything to do with the OM issue). Now when we try to migrate any AOL object we get the following error.

APPLLCSP Environment Variable set to :

Current NLS_LANG and NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS Environment Variables are :
American_America.UTF8

'.,'

REP-0501: Unable to connect to the specified database.

We get the exact same error when I run the "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Program. Can someone explain how this program rebuilds the views? I am trying to get to the source of the problem but no luck.

Thanks

Subbu

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Hi Subbu,

TNS error generally occour when tns name can not match with an IP. I solve that problem with define tns name and IP in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. OR you can match tns name with IP in DNS server in your company

In addition to that I saw that password request repeated 3 times. Is your Oracle password correct ?

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Celil - Thanks for the response.
We have checked the tns entries and they are all ok. We were able to use Object Migrator for many months until we upgraded our Oracle Apps tech stack to R12.1.3. The password is correct as well. I am just curious if anyone else had seen a similar issue and got to the bottom of it.

Thanks

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Celil, Subbu,

I'm facing with exactly the same error:  we have been using Object Migrator 7.5 for many months without any trouble.

After applying Applying Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Technology Release 12.1.3 (R12.ATG_PF.B.delta.3) based on ID 1066312.1 metalink doc., object migrator reports started to fail with the following error (same as above):

Do you have any info, how to resolv this issue?

tnsnames entries looks good, password also good.

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Miki,

This issue hasn't resolved yet and because of this we haven't been using the Object Migrator for a couple of months now. It almost seems like a compatibility issue between R12.1.3 and Object Migrator 7.5. There was a note on one of the system compatibility matrix documents as below

. HP Object Migrator version 7.5 requires patch PPMC_00090 in order to work with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.2 or later.

I tried applying this patch, still no luck. I do have a ticket open with HP, wil let you know if I get an update.

Thanks

Subbu

I am having the exact same issue and wanted to know if anyone received a solution from HP on this?

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Hi,

Check the password of the O*M schema in Oracle Applications.

In the Oracle Applications instance where you have installed Object*Migrator, navigate to Security -> ORACLE -> Register. Query the schema name where you have installed Object*Migrator (usually CLM) and re-enter the password. After entering the new password you should bounce the concurrent manager and try your migration again.

Best regards,
Randall

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

We did try updating that password but that didn't work for us.  I appreciate the reply anyway  :-)

We figured out a solution on our own by doing the following:

  • Created apps synonyms for clm data objects and packages
  • Granted apps privileges on the clm data objects and packages
  • Changed how the CLM application is registered with Oracle
  • Recreated database links under the APPS account

We ran this by HP and they approved the solution.  I got to speak with one of the lead developers and she said that she saw this at other clients.  What happens is that the R12 upgrade reassigns the custom cl / clm objects to the apps scheme owner (or something like that)  The case number was 4645404664

I hope this helps someone else.

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Hi,

I bumped into the same issue after applying 12964564 patch. Our solution was to pull out that patch from our list.

Today, I applied 13855823 oracle application patch, and I got the following error:

Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM warning: You have loaded library /opt/apps/r12/d3nic/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib/librw.so which might have disabled stack guard. The VM will try to fix the stack guard now.
It's highly recommended that you fix the library with 'execstack -c <libfile>', or link it with '-z noexecstack'.

REP-0501: Unable to connect to the specified database.

Can you share the details of your solution? I'd like to try that to see whether it can solve our issue?

Thanks, Miklos

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Hello,

We are Oracle EBS customers and recently had same issue happen to us after patches were applied.  The solution was to apply patch 16946854.

Hope this helps.

Re: "Maintain Object Migrator Views" Fails with TNS error - Object Migrator 7.5

Hi Jason,

We are currently experiencing this same issue after attempting to re-install Object Migrator on a different EBS instance (one that would not be frequently refreshed). Do you happen to know which particular patch first caused the issue?

Thanks
