one of the node stopped automatically

Hi Team,

One of our server node says "Server is not running", As per the information no body has stopped it.One of the team member says if we do not regularly perform server maintaince activity(which includes  stopping servers, deleting Tmp , work folders and then starting the servers) then server will be stopped.

Is this true that if do not perform regular maintaince activity does the node goes down?

FYI: we did not perform any maintaince activity on that server since 6months.

Thanks,

Sravan

Re: one of the node stopped automatically

Below is the extract from HP admin guide

Periodically Stopping and Restarting the Server

The PPM Server generally requires very little maintenance. To help ensure your system operates smoothly, HP recommends that you stop and restart the PPM Server(s) once a month. For information about starting and stopping the PPM Server, see Starting and Stopping the PPM Server on page 96.

If your PPM Center instance includes multiple nodes in a cluster configuration, you must start these nodes one at a time. Make sure that you wait until each node is fully started before you start the next node.

Periodic maintenance is require to release the Server and DB resources occupied by PPM. This is consider as best practise.

Re: one of the node stopped automatically

Hi Sravan,

You shoud have a maintenance scheduled for PPM server.

Example:

- Restart PPM every two days.

- And once every week.

 - If two action above make the PPM server working without problem and you can perform restart PPM server once a month.

About: Is this true that if do not perform regular maintaince activity does the node goes down?

    - I'm not sure about this,  there are many reason make the nodes down and you need checking carrefully for find out the root cause.
