WF Execution Step transition

Hello,

I have an execution step in the workflow automatically executing a special command (ksc_local_exec to initiate an sh script), given any result it leads to the next workflow step. The problem I'm facing is that while the script is being processed, you can see the request freezed in that step and only after a while and F5 refresh the next worflow step is finally applied.
Do you have any clue how to make the execution step run "in background", so that users even don't notice there is some process running?

Thank you in advance for help,
Svetlana

Re: WF Execution Step transition

Hi Svetlana,

If your script is taking a while to execute, you could try calling it as a background process which should let the shell report success back to PPM without waiting.

Re: WF Execution Step transition

Use "nohup" to make sure it doesn't terminate when the terminal is closed, and append a & to the end to run it as a background job:

nohup /mypath/myscript.sh &
