We are in the process of preparing to upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 and want to make sure that all of our customer request types, workflows, validations, etc. are maintained. The upgrade documentation says that standard request types that are customized should be renamed - is that true for workflows, validations, etc? And if so, is there an easy way to do this as we have hundreds of customized entries. Any other 'gotchas' that we need to consider would be helpful as well. Thanks!
Every out-of-the-box request type, etc. like, PFM - Proposal, PFM - Project, etc. that you have modified/customized needs to be renamed. Though PPM does not overwrite all the ootb validations during upgrade but it will be a must to take a backup of those too, as many of them will get overwritten. So for any number of out-of-the-box entities that you have modified it will be necessary to take the copy of it and then rename it. Once the upgrade is complete, then you can rename the new ootb entities that PPM has created/overwritten (like again PFM - Proposal, PFM - Project, etc.) to something else, and then rename your originally copied-renamed entities back to the original ootb names, before you start testing and fixing any or all the issues of customizations for the upgrade.
You will need to create a support case with HP for this if you can't find it on the Support Site. They should be able to email you that document or they may put it on the support case you create so you can download it from there.
