Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

We're in the process of testing the upgrade of PPM 7.5 SP2 to 8.0 on Linux. The upgrade itself went fine, but we are unable to start the JVMs in our clustered environment. Upon running kStart.sh, the log shows...

--- MBEANS THAT ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM ---
ObjectName: jboss.ha:service=HASingletonDeployer
State: FAILED
Reason: java.lang.Error: Invalid ObjectName: jboss:service=http://managingis75-ct.dvllb.travp.net; javax.management.MalformedObjectNameException: Invalid character ':' in value part of property

Has anyone else run into this issue or have any thoughts as to what may be causing it?

Thanks,

Jamie Pick

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Can you post the cluster portion of your server.conf?

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Hey Eric -

When you say the clustered portion of the server.conf, are you referring to the APP_SERVER_xxx parms, or the @node?

Thanks,

Jamie

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Both, really...I wanted to see how you had it set up. Originally, I thought it might have to do with your MULTICAST_NAME parameter, but I tested several different values for that and couldn't trigger an error.

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Hi Erik -

Attached is are the APP_SERVER_xxx settings from above the @node and from the @node.

Thanks again,

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

I guess I'm really asking for the KINTANA_SERVER_NAME for each node, and your MULTICAST_NAME...

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

com.kintana.core.server.KINTANA_SERVER_NAME=ppm5_jvm
com.kintana.core.server.MULTICAST_CLUSTER_NAME=http://managingis75-ct.dvllb.travp.net

@node
com.kintana.core.server.KINTANA_SERVER_NAME=ppm6_jvm

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

If you pasted in that MULTICAST_CLUSTER_NAME line direct from server.conf, it looks like you have a space after the =

Maybe remove that and try?

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Hi Erik -

It may appear that way, but unfortunately there is not a space after the '='. Good thought though.

We're still trying some things. If anything works, I'll be sure to post the solution.

Thanks,

Jamie

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Ok, well I'm out of ideas but it sure looks like it's tripping on that parameter for some reason. Only other thing is that, as far as I know, JDK 1.6.0_07 is the only supported version for 8.0...

Good Luck!

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Hi I have the same problem on version 8.01, it runs fine as a single box but when trying clustering I get "MBEANS THAT ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM". Did this got any solution?

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Specifically we were getting the 'Invalid character ':' in value part of property' error.

To resolve this error, the new clustering server.conf settings were gone over with a fine tooth comb (port #'s, ensuring they're all there, etc.).

Thanks,

Jamie - What is the OS on the app server?

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

One of our customers are having problems with clustering on 8.0 and they are running on single node till the time we get a response from HP. They are running Solaris.
I will let you know if I hear any updates on this one.

Re: Unable to Start 8.0 Clustered Instance

Jamie,

sounds similar to an issue we had when upgrading from 7.5 to 8.0. The issue was resolved by changing the following parameters back to their default values of 0.

com.kintana.core.server.PENDING_EV_UPDATES_CLEANUP_INTERVAL=0
com.kintana.core.server.PROJECT_PV_UPDATE_INTERVAL_MINUTES=0
com.kintana.core.server.PENDING_COST_EV_UPDATE_SERVICE_DELAY=0
com.kintana.core.server.FX_RATE_UPDATE_SERVICE_INTERVAL_MINUTES=0
com.kintana.core.server.PENDING_ASSIGNMENTS_CLEANUP_INTERVAL=0
com.kintana.core.server.COST_ROLLUP_INTERVAL_MINUTES=0
com.kintana.core.server.COST_RATE_RULE_UPDATE_INTERVAL_MINUTES=0
