URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

We set up a alias itgdev for our Dev server so that we can use url "itgdev.xxx.com" instead of having to use the server name "SERVER_NAME.xxx.com" for Web URL.
We changed the BASE_URL value in server.conf with "https://itgdev.xxx.com" as well. We are now able to log on to dashboard just fine but as soon as we click a reqeust id link to see the request detail or click attach button for attachment enabled field, URL changes on the IE window to "SERVERNAME.XXX.COM/..." and it asks for new authentication again.

Can anyone help me understand what I might be missing ?
By the way we are on 7.5 sp6.
Thanks in advance.

What do you have for com.kintana.core.server.SERVER_NAME?

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

Eric,
Only the BASE_URL value was changed in server.conf file. I have "actual" SERVER_NAME listed for com.kintana.core.server.SERVER_NAME.
Does that need to get changed to Alias name(ITGDEV) as well?
The one in Prod (6.0) still has actual server name and we are not having any issues there.

We recently changed this alias in DEV as we are now preparing to do the same to Test and then to Prod hopefully coming weekend. Looks like I am also seeing Request Graphical issue now. Not sure if these are related.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

We're using the alias 'PPM' for prod (7.5) and I have it set like:

BASE_URL=http://ppm.me.com:8080/

SERVER_NAME=ppm.me.com

Note that the SERVER_NAME parameter is for the DNS name of the box, and is different from KINTANA_SERVER_NAME which is the name of the _instance_ (which would match what you have in your /server directory) and is usually set to 'kintana' by default.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

Thanks Erik.
I wonder if that will fix my issue. I will give it a try.
What about the com.kintana.core.server.RMI_URL parameter ?
Can that be set to rmi://ALIAS_NAME:1099/KintanaServer as well ?

Thanks.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

Did not help.

Allows me to log on to dashboard or serach for request without any issues but as soon as I click any reqeust in Portlet, URL changes to address starting with Server Name and asks me to re-log in again :-( . But I manually replace that servername with alias in the browser it shows the request page without any issues.

I wonder if this has somethig to do with Apache config.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

You ran kUpdateHtml.sh after you modified server.conf?

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

This is a OOB Request List Portlet.

I Ran kUpdateHtml.sh, compiled java files and flushed All Cash as well after the paramter changes.
Doesn't seem to help.

In my 7.5 TEST instance where I am still using "http://Servername.xxx.com:8080" BASE_URL none of these issues are noticed. Our Sysadmin who configured APACHE was OOO yesterday. I am hoping he can help me debug to find whether this is related to APACHE config somehow. Could very well be.

Thanks.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

We did this on one of our servers running 7.5 SP6 recently. The only thing we changed was the value for com.kintana.core.server.BASE_URL, then ran kUpdateHtml.sh. Some possibilities:

1) I assume you are running a single server. Configuration of a cluster complicates this a bit.
2) Could there be more than one directive in server.conf for com.kintana.core.server.BASE_URL?

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

Also, check the Server Configuration report in the Server Tools section of the workbench to see what value is being used for BASE_URL.

Re: URL changing after clicking Request ID in Portlet

We are finally able to Fix this issue with a little help from our SysAdmin.
As soon as he resolved the http->https switch issue, this issue disappeared on itself. So, looks like both were related.

Thanks a Lot for All the Suggestions you guys provided here.
