Tracking Task Progress with MS Project Integration

We have a scenario where we would like to integrate MS Project with HP PPM with the MS Project Plan set up as the controlling plan.  We want to record progress against tasks in the MS Project Plan,   but have people report their time against the project in PPM at the Project Level.

This doesn't look possible in MS Project Controlled integration mode.  We've attempted it using the shared mode.  But when we update the task progress in the MS Project Plan,  that % complete doesn't seem to transfer over to PPM when we update the PPM workplan with latest MS Project Plan.

Anyone have experience with this that can offer some advice ?

Thanks

PPM v9.12.

I use MSP Controlled Mode. Actuals and plan can easily be pushed from MSP 2007.

I am looking at the documentation for Shared Control Mode (see attached). It looks like actuals can only be synchronized from PPM to MSP in Shared Control Mode.

Re: Tracking Task Progress with MS Project Integration

Hi Wingor,

When you choose the MSP and PPM  Integration mode as "Control is shared", you have the option to select if you want to transfer the Porcent Complete or Percent Complete and Actual Dates or Actual Efforts from PPM to MSP.

That means that the % complete could not be transfered from MSP to PPM.

Best regards,
Randall

Re: Tracking Task Progress with MS Project Integration

Thanks kwood55.   We initially tested the MS Project Control mode as you suggest.  This approach works for uploading the task progress % but will not allow us to report time in PPM.  We currently report time in PPM at the project level.  Since any # of people could be working on the project,  this is better to report in PPM vs trying to manage in the MS Plan.
