Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi PPM Gurus,

What is the difference between Soft-Booked and Committed?

I tried, even for soft-booked position we can assign to work plan tasks. Also we can submit actuals from Time Management against that task for soft-booked resource.

Manas

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

As far as I know,
Soft-Booked: the person is planed to work on this task.
Commited: the person is reserved to work on this task.

Thanks for your reply. Are there any other functionality differences?

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi Manas,

There is no Technical/Functional difference between Softbooked and Commited they are only terms used to communicate.

Thanks,
Kumar

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi Bagde,

Yes it about communication between project manager & resource manager. but in addition to that only one functionality impact is soft book still shows in resource request screen in resource pool (and resource request portlet). In commited status the resource request does not show in there.

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi itgppm,

There is two informal way to get rid of softbook:
You could update position status from soft-book to committed in DB. Which you must test it with all possible impacts.

or

You could find and edit related jsp file, than find soft-booked word and disable it.

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi Ceil,

Is there any way to hide this field on position tab. or make a default entry to committed instead of Sofbooked ?

Thanks

Re: Soft-Booked vs Committed

Hi Jerry,

currently the application is using a hardcoded validation to show the allocation status' and unfortunately you can neither change the order, the default or the values themselves.

There have been one or two Enhancement Requests created for this but they've all fallen off the table due to being logged for out of support versions.

If this is something that you want importantly, my advice would be to log a new case with Support and request a new ER for currently in-support versions.

Use the following template that you can fill in detailed and log the ER with that:

1) Please provide a short problem statement:

2) When does the situation occur? Please describe an actual scenario from the customer's current environment.

3) How is the situation currently handled or resolved? What work around is used today?

4) What is unsatisfactory about the current situation and why?

5) What is the required functionality to meet that will enable the described scenario?

 Good luck and best regards,

Dirk
