Set a counter for a field

Hi All,

I have a requirement in PPM, I need to introduce a counter for a particular field such that whenever that field value is changed, this counter should also get incremented.

Can you please help me with this requirement?

Thanks in Advance,
Satya

Re: Set a counter for a field

Hi,
Create a numeric Read only field.

Write a field change rule which updates when ever value is changed.

Select Token+1 from dual;

Check up whether it works

Re: Set a counter for a field

Hi Mahendra,

Re: Set a counter for a field

Yes mahendran, it is giving me the following error:

Rule SQL has Invalid Token(s). Tokens allowed are System tokens [SYS.*], Application Server tokens [AS.*] and tokens of fields defined in the Rule Dependencies List. (KNTA-10561)

Re: Set a counter for a field

hi Mahendran,

I didnt get your question properly,One of our user requested to have this functionality implemented so that he wanted to keep track of the no. of times the field has been changed.

I would like to hear your solution, may be it is helpful for us in this case also.

Thanks,

Re: Set a counter for a field

Hi Mahendran,

Thanks for your efforts, but one point i would like to mention here is when i create a new numeric text field, it wouldnt come up on Dependencies list of Advanced Defaults in the Rules section.

Is there any way that a newly created field comes up in the Dependencies list.

We are using PPM 7.1.0 SP 10

Thanks,

Re: Set a counter for a field

I hope you have not saved the Request type before going to the Rules Section.
