Selectively migrate PPM capability from a source instance to a fresh destination

Hello I have a difficult migration to achieve and could use your support. I want to migrate only the database schema from one PPM instance to another. However the destination PPM instance will be a new install of 9.10, and the source is a very old installation with extensions and service packs which extend back a long time and not needed anymore.

The only extensions and related functionality/data i am interested in keeping from the source are:

APM 912 2011-08-12 11:46:54 HP Application Portfolio Management

CMQC 800 2009-12-16 18:35:24 HP PPM Center Management for Quality Center
ALM 800 2009-12-16 18:27:53 HP PPM Application Lifecycle Management

I am not interested in the language packs from the source. How can I do this?

My source PPM DB has the following SP's and extensions. I will also install SP4 before export:

Re: Selectively migrate PPM capability from a source instance to a fresh destination

You cannot migrate the database between the two PPM instance with diiferent version. The database clone/migration will not show any error, but when your try to START the PPM insatnce then it will not start or will show many errors; as there is lot of changes in DB architecture/schema/

The best approach to clone this will be to, have same PPM version on source and destination; then gradually upgrade the desitiation instance to your required version.

Re: Selectively migrate PPM capability from a source instance to a fresh destination

Many thanks for this response, it seems I have to change my plan. I will migrate the whole PPM instance as well as the DB schema.

Is there a way to selectivily undeploy prior service packs installs/extensions to minimize the instance disk/db footprint?

One last question, how can I download all entity types from PPM 9.13 (specifically APM related) into an excel file? This is so I can compare/upload into a destination system?

Re: Selectively migrate PPM capability from a source instance to a fresh destination

You can use sh kDeploy.sh -tidy to remove the unnecessary installtion/upgrade logs (in case you don't need them);

Secondly once the upgrade is done to 9.x then you can run

drop_80_objects.sql

script to remove obsolete tables from your system. This script removes all obsolete PPM Center version 8.00 database objects.

Wherease remvoing or undeploying the previous service patch; once you install the latest service patch then the installer takes care or removing the obsolete file system. Rest for Logs and DB object you can follow the above suggestions.

Cheers..
