Restart of the DB server without stopping the PPM service.

There was made by mistake a restart of the server where PPM DB resides. Since this was not programmed the PPM service was not stopped, and it resides in a different server. As consequence the DB was down for a lapse about 5 minutes.

As PPM admin, when I received the advice of the server restart I checked the functionallity and it seems like it's working fine. It appears that PPM restored connection to DB as soon as it was reachable again.

What could be the biggest impact on this?. How can we assure that there's no problem with this?. I checked the log file at home directory and it doesn't say much.

Any suggestions?

Re: Restart of the DB server without stopping the PPM service.

Hi Jonathan,

If the DB is out of line for the application server (PPM installation) the application will stop working until it reconnect to the DB. So the impact that you'll have are that the users can't work with PPM notwithstanding that PPM is up.

Kind regards,
Daniel
