Query a Non-Kintana DB through PPM portlets

I'm already adept at writing SQL queries for portlets in PPM, however, we how have another software package from HP: OV Service Manager, which does not have the reporting capability that PPM does.
Is it possible to query through PPM to another, non-Kintana, Oracle database and display the results in a PPM portlet?
If so, who has done this, and what challenges did you have?

Re: Query a Non-Kintana DB through PPM portlets

Hi Greg,

Somewhat depends on how complicated your needs are. At the easy level, I'd suggest just creating a DB link so the PPM database can query the external tables you need. Then you can create/manage portlets in the normal way and just refer to the external tables in your data sources...

We just got this set up in test. So far, it works great.
Have you any other tips or advice - any gotcha's or issues we should be aware of?

You can use wsrp portlets. Use external app server to host portlets and use PPM WSRP portlet facilities to consume them.
