Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

I am new to HP PPM, presently facing issues with setting Java Home directory path while installation.

During installation there is an option to setup Java Directory name & i get pop up error "C:\jdk1.5.0\bin is not a valid JAVA_HOME parameter value. This directory must include a bin\jave.exe file."

Earlier Java was installed in C:\Program Files.... it was giving the same error. Now i have uninstalled & reinstalled JAVA in C:\jdr1.5.0 folder. Still get the same error. I have already setup Env Variables to the correct path whr Java is installed.

Need some inputs.....

I have gone thru the System requirement & compatibility matrix document & according to that JDK 1.5.0 from SUN is supported by PPM.

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Hi ,

It seems that your JAVA_HOME directory doesn't contain JAVA.exe.

To test this working Please try to run these two commands;

1.c:\>JAVA
2.c:\>JAVAC

If you are able to run these command and getting option which are like how to use them it means you JAVA HOME and Path is Properly Configured.Other you have to configure JAVA HOME and Class Path again.

Please provide comlete path in HOME setting where is you JAVA.exe located in your JRE folder or JDK folder.

Hope this will help you.

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Hi Jyothir,

Path which is mentioned in env variables & while installtion is correct. Java.exe file is present in the directory mentioned.

Tested with the 2 steps which you have mentioned.
1. C:\>JAVA - i got the reply with Java options etc....
2. C:\>JAVAC - Got :JAVAC' is not recognized as an internal or external command,....

need some more inputs.....

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Hello,

the value of the JAVA_HOME variable is NOT correct, it should be something like "C:\jdk1.5.0\", since PPM is looking for the executables in the %JAVA_HOME%\bin directory. (this is also what the error message states).

Hope this helps

cheers

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Hi ,
If your JAVA is working fine that means JRE is present and configured properly.

As you said JAVAC is not working which means System is not able to find JAVAC in file system.Seems you have installed only JRE ,please install JDK kit as well to get JAVAC working and then give a try.

Hope this will help you.

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

HI ,

Which folder's bin directory you have mentioned in the JAVA_HOME or PATH setting?

IF its JRE's bin folder then please change it to jdk folder's bin directory.

Hope this will help you.

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Please check once that in environment variable setting you have only one JAVA_HOME.It may be that its still pointing to older reference. If this is the case please remove older java_home variable or Add new JAVA_HOME varaible in the starting of the path not at the end.

Try to check JAVA_HOME, please try using command.

c:\>echo %JAVA_HOME%
c:\>echo %PATH%

Make sure you have added % % at the time of declration of JAVA_HOME.

Hope this will help you.

Guys.. Do u have any other doc for that, if u might have prepared one on ur own? Please share....

Re: Problem with installing PPM7.5 om win-ser.03

Hello Sanzqod,

Can you try following steps?
> Download the installable jdk1.5.0_17 from www.java.com
> Double Click on setup.exe
> Set Root Directory = C:\Java
> Follow the onscreen instruction to install the Java with jdk
> Set the JAVA_HOME as follows
>> Go to My Computer Properties >> Advanced >> Environment Variables >> System Variables >> New >> Variable Name = JAVA_HOME >> Variable Value = C:\Java\jdk1.5.0_17 >> Click Ok

Do you have cygwin installed?
Share the result of following commands,
echo $JAVA_HOME
echo $PATH
